has anyone been able to run an animation that uses a geometry group?
For me, it just renders the .obj with the name I have in Blender.
Animation with instances
Sorry, don't understand the problem.has anyone been able to run an animation that uses a geometry group?
For me, it just renders the .obj with the name I have in Blender.
I created a group with a sphere, cube, and cone
in project named "Testing". When I rendered the still image, Octane named it Testing.obj.
I animated each object and the group in Blender and rendered the animation in Octane no problem.

ps- it's still rendering but it looks like things are moving as they should.
Later...did you mean a vertex group vs a group of objects?

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but this was done with Blender and Octane: http://vimeo.com/25686881

THAT is a great video!
I won't bother showing my little animation.
(but it worked fine)

Sorry, I mean creating a geometry group in Octane with several instances. For me, it doesnt render the geometry group, including all the instances, it just renders one of my mesh nodes.
so if I have a bunch of chairs, I cant create instances with them, I have to have them in the same mesh node as everything else.

Ok, you're way ahead of me.
I didn't even know you could create the instances in Octane.
I thought everything was created in Blender, and Octane just rendered
each scene as Blender exported them.
If the video by Erik Jansson is an example of this, WOW!

That video was created way before instances were available in Octane.
Either way, its not that important right now, and hopefully withing the next month or 2 we will have the integrated plugin, so I dont need to worry about it.
