This is a new release of the OctaneRender™ for LightWave™ plugin, build 1.16.1 - released for Lightwave 10.x and 11.x Windows x32 and x64.

How to install the plugin:
- Download the install file, you can see that inside it there is the plugin, the octane.dll and octane.dat files and a custom LW menu bar file
- Copy the octane.dll and octane.dat files into you install Lightwave/bin directory
- Add the plugin from Lightwave Layout, select the plugin for your Lightwave version (10.x or 11.x)
- Install the custom menu bar to get access to the Octane features
How to update the plugin:
- It is like install the plugin again (copy the .dll and .dat files to the Lightwave/bin directory and add the plugin and menu bar again), but you must be sure that there aren't any octane master plugins running in the Layout before try to add the plugin again. There is a live master plugin needed to start/stop the engine that must be closed to allow plugin reinstall.
*NEW FEATURES IN THE 1.16.1 RELEASE*
- New core code to manage Octane GPUs frame buffers using the API callbacks allow plugin to render sequences without delays among frames.
- Added support for thin lens camera distortion
- Object dissolve and distance dissolve settings are now supported by the Octane plugin. This settings override all the object shaders opacity values. IPR show the dissolve settings updates in real time.
- Users now can use Shift+RightClick over the IPR to pick and select the object under the cursor (like pick surfaces, but with the other mouse button).
- New code to manage the IPR scene update while scrub the time slider. This code bypass a lot of not used events, and can be up to x3 faster in complex scenes.
- New dynamic materials update code, that allow update the animated parameters in materials and in the dissolve parameter without a full scene reload. This feature can be enabled for final rendering using a new option available in the render target root node menu, and it is also available in the IPR window if user enable the new "Mat Upd" switch (in the IPR this feature is optional because in complex scenes reload all materials can be very slow, sometimes few seconds, so it is disabled by default).
- Added all code and features that should be used for the plugin Demo Version.
*BUGS FIXED IN THE 1.16.1 RELEASE*
- IPR doesn't support a width below 650 pixels when opened using scene camera size or custom size. Fixed, now IPR center the image if it is smaller than top menu buttons and works without problems.
- IPR buttons and information area are active for mouse clicking and can reset the rendering if user click over this zones. Fixed, now only the render zone is active.
- Modify any parameter in UVMAP node while LW native render is running crash Layout. Fixed.
- Diffuse material "Matte" feature used as shadow catcher doesn't work like standalone. Fixed, now if "Matte" is enabled, "Transmission" is disabled to match the Standalone behavior who doesn't add any texture to the transmission input pin. Anyway user can add a external texture node and link it to the transmission input if Matte+Transmission is needed for something.
- "Switch to Octane" button always reload the last stored render target, even when Octane is already enabled, and could destroy all user render target settings. Fixed, now it show a error message if Octane is already enabled.
- "Open IPR" button destroys the stored render target settings if used after "Switch to LW" function. Problem is that "Open IPR" has a internal function that enable the plugin and load the default render target settings, not the settings stored by "Switch to LW". To avoid this problem now "Open IPR" doesn't work if Octane render is not enabled, and shows a error message. (This was the original workflow for this function, changed some weeks ago for a user request)
- Objects instancers enable/disable switch doesn't work with Octane. Fixed, but only for the first instancer genererator available in the object (disable the first generator disable the rendering of all instances of the object).
- The texture image node displays a corrupted thumbnail for exr files. Fixed.
- Lightwave crash or freeze if user scrub the time slider using IPR in "Full Upd." mode. Fixed.
- Enable GPUs at render time doesn't work. Fixed in the Octane API.
- Some changes to make more stable the IPR resize functions.
- Fixed black rendering with directlighting when both glossy and specular depth are set to 1.
- Fixed incorrect alpha transparency when diffuse and transmission are zero.
- Improved noise reduction of diffuse materials with transmission.
- Matte material is now only applied on the first bounce, i.e. the indirect effects of the matte object stay the same.
- Improved bump/normal mapping for diffuse and glossy materials
- Diffuse transmissive materials with a medium inside are rendered correctly with alpha shadows enabled.
- Fixed addition of render devices while being paused.
