I realize that Octane is designed to simulate reality, but was wondering if anyone has any useful tips for creating scenes that have a stippled shading (like pointillism) similar to the attached drawing.
I've been mucking around with Max's Ink 'n Paint using a Falloff type with various sub-maps such as noise, cellular, speckled, etc. without ideal results.
Any ideas will be much appreciated.

Cant you just use this with Mentalray or even scanline?
It is is so basic.
Years ago I tried FinalToon and it was great for such stuff.

you can bake a ambient occlusion map with xnormal then apply a photoshop filter for the dot-effect and apply the new map to the model. Layout the UVs first.
Thank you for the tips!
1) Octane Toon? Where do I find this?
2) I looked into FinalToon. It is able to do a stippled effect, but isn't quite as close to my goal as I had hoped.
3) The ambient occlusion map sounds promising. I don't have Photoshop, but maybe there's a trial version I can download. I'll have to see if I can pull this off.
