Watch in 720p.. The quality aint the best on youtube Im afraid :( I didnt have time to do a proper upload to vimeo..

All 32 different buildings used to create the city share one 8K texture map, divided into 256x256 textures. So all trees, etc use the same texture..

Particles rendered with GPU particle renderer Fury2.14.

Wow, that's very impressive! Can you show a printscreen of that texture and can you add your signature with the specs of soft- and hardware. I am very curious how you made the impressive stuff.

I fixed the signature :P.. Sure here is a 2K version of the texture.. I used it as a transparent .png so I could use it both for diffuse and opacitymap. As you'll see I still have about 40% left of the overall texture space. We didnt know how many individual buildings we could manage to model, so its a collection of buildings we can still built upon for future use. My guess is that I can muster about 20 more buildings into that texture. Image

Yes it is Octane and Fury 2 for particles (still in beta for Softimage/Maya). It was pretty much a test to see how largescale geometry Octane could handle, and if using one texture for everything was a good idea or a bad one. I ran into alot of precision problems with Octane when the model got too big, and triangle/waveform patterns started to arrise. Unfortunately Octane still crashes after every frame I rendered on my new 670 cards (also a test in production LOL), so I ended up using a mouse recorder to get frames out the door..

Im doing sponsor stuff now for X factor, so I will post a new animation next week, with more Octane renders and other use for the buildings :)
