I have to make this thread in General Discussion because Maya devs just quit giving us progress updates and just straight up quit responding...
We need to get some sort of timeline update for release of V3 and Pascal compatible V2. Devs CONTINUOUSLY miss dates that they give us and then just quit responding to any questions. It's been at least 1-2 months since we've had any timeline update on V3. V2 devs working on Pascal just quit responding to the thread to let us know what's up with that.
WE ARE 100% IN THE DARK AND HAVE BEEN FOR MONTHS.
We have given you money for your product, damnit, and we expect to have it supported adequately, which you are not doing.
Maya users plead for some sort of progress update on Plugin

thanks haze, I know you guys are working on it, it's just gotten REALLY frustrating to be left in the dark about what is going on with both V2 and V3.
At the moment our best estimate is 4 weeks, as the best case scenario for a stable v3 release. We may have to alter this if any significant issues come up.
I'm happy to introduce Bikram, who is joining the Maya team here. He's had extensive experience as a Maya artist and has also taught it professionally. He will be assisting with support services and also internal testing.
More news to come.

Maybe for some reason it's not really possible to know how much time it will take to get a usable V3 release?
I feel it could be 4 weeks but could also be 1 more year (just a speculation).
V2 plugin is becoming more and more impractical as workstations are switching progressively to Pascal GPUs,
and nobody seems willing to compile the V2 plugin with the 2.26 sdk.
What about a temporary V3 release with minimal functionality but with access to the octane SDK api through a python wrapper ?
(For example Maya use SWIG to wrap its C/C++ API to python)
This way, in the meantime, we (technical users) could implement a python plugin ourselves ...

What's the story on Pascal compatible v2? We were told we would have an update on that early next week, but there was no update and no answers in the forum. Devs just straight up quit responding to our messages after missing the date the gave us. According to them, it was a quick task to update that and updating V2 was the quickest way to get us a Pascal compatible renderer.

we still have been unable to get any response from devs regarding a Pascal update for V2. We were supposed to at least have a status update the beginning of last week but that never happened and we still have never received a status update. Please give us an update.
You should invest some coins and hire at least 2 additional Maya developers.
It's really possible that a company with this support and service quality won't last too long in the market.Refracty wrote:You should invest some coins and hire at least 2 additional Maya developers.
