Cinema 4D version 2019.1.4-R2(Obsolete stable) 07.12.2019

Hi all,
This is new build with a stable version of 2019.1.4 SDK.

Any feedbacks are welcome for development and fixing the issues. Enjoy it!
This is the matching SDK for the 2019.1.4.


See all new features of 2018/2019 versions.


To use this version, you need a GPU of compute model 3.0 or higher. Support for Fermi GPUs (like GTX 4xx and 5xx) has been dropped. Also, make sure you use a driver of version 419.xx or higher and if you are working on Mac OS that has a CUDA driver installed that supports at least CUDA 9.1.

IN ANY CRASH CASE PLEASE DO THESE!!!
If you see CUDA errors follow 1,2,3,4.
1- Use NVIDIA STUDIO drivers, not Game Ready versions. If you have stability issues try different drivers, some of them could cause instability issues. Do a clean install while doing this to be sure previous files completely removed.
2- Check GPU frequency. Overclocking would cause instability issues
3- Check PSU. Insufficient power output would cause instability issues
4- Check the free amount of GPU's VRAM and system's RAM while working. Low VRAM will/may cause CUDA errors. Be aware of some generator objects will have different triangle count in Picture Viewer than Live Viewer. It’s like “editor/render” parameter. Just try to use the same value. Also try to optimize your scene for polygon count, even use smaller images. Try to use Octane texture nodes rather than using C4D texture/shaders.
Alternatively, use V4 and Out-of-core(OOC) function. Increase RAM for OOC and It should not exceed physical RAM amount. Check TDR value and increase if it's necessary.
5- If you see C4D crashes without CUDA errors, then send us bugreport.zip, screen-shots and video capture to show process and crash moment. Also please send us a sample scene in a format of C4D or ORBX to let us investigate and test it. Alternatively, try to delete/hide some objects/materials until crash gone away. If you find what's causing crashes, send us a sample scene to let us for investigating and bring a fix or solution.
Thanks for helping the development by your feedbacks! It’s impossible to quickly catch every case without user feedbacks! It’s the same procedure as other companies do like Maxon/etc...

Changes of 2019.1.4 SDK
  • The overhauled auto-bump now supports all projection types and extra UV sets (see viewtopic.php?p=371750#p371750 for an example).
  • Improved auto-bump to preserve sharp edges of the geometry.
  • Fixed crash when you try to render a displacement mixer with an unconnected displacement pin (see viewtopic.php?p=371779#p371779).
  • Fixed toon rendering of bump/normal maps (see viewtopic.php?p=371859#p371859).
  • Fixed problem that a mixed universal material with 1.0 mix factor renders differently to a universal material - when there is some transmission involved.
  • Fixed render artefacts with specular materials that have an IOR between (1 .. 1.00005) (see viewtopic.php?p=371943#p371943).
  • Fixed missing thin film interference if RGB IOR or IOR + color is used in layered materials.
  • Fixed incorrect fake shadow colour if a vertex attribute texture is used in the transmission channel.
  • Fixed environment shadows missing in the general shadow pass.
  • Fixed error "unexpected primitive type 2" when you try to use the baking camera and displacement.
  • Fixed kernel failure if you render accurate rounded edges with the PMC kernel and a baking camera.
  • Fixed exception handling on MacOS which should reduce the delay/freeze during a crash.

  • Fix: Timelimit option
  • Improvements in Node Editor, premade nodes for OSL scripts
  • NVLINK fix, devices fixes
  • Fix: crash in combination, osl texture float parameters(without sliderranges) with octane slider type
  • Fix: Some hanging situations of plugin on exit
Changes of 2019.1.3 SDK
  • Overhauled the auto-bump feature of vertex displacement, which fixes multiple issues that were reported. Now, auto-bump works with vector displacement maps as well and you can add an additional bump map on top of auto-bump.
  • Fixed direct lighting kernel looking different to v4 and 2018.1 when fake shadow is used + when a bunch of glossy materials with no diffuse and specular textures are used.
  • Fixed volume rendering in legacy mode (see viewtopic.php?p=369698#p369698).
  • Fixed a small memory leak when rendering is stopped.
  • Fixed wrong handling of extra arguments in the OSL environment() function.
  • Fixed a crash with a very long image file path.
  • Fixed minor bug in OSL compiler which breaks float val[2]; getattribute("camera:clip", val);.

Requirements:
-You'll need to update your Cinema 4D to latest versions(R16.050, R17.053, R18.057, R19.053, R20.057, R21.115). Otherwise, the plugin will not work and not appear in menus.
-Internet connection for activation, be sure that C4D and Octane will not be blocked by the firewall and any antivirus software.
-Nvidia drivers at least Nvidia Studio Drivers(419.x/431.84) and be careful with latest Game Ready drivers which can cause cuda errors. Stay with stable one for you.
-Cuda 9.1 driver for OSX.

Installation
First, remove all octane related stuff from plugins and the main folder of Cinema4D.

Extract all files to Cinema4D\plugins\c4dOctane directory.
Also, download manual.zip and extract to c4dOctane directory if it's not available in place.

There are a few files for each one is for different Cinema4D version. Remove all except the file is for your version.
Ex. if you have Cinema4D R18.0, keep only "c4dOctane-r18.cdl64" and delete c4dOctane-r17.cdl64, c4dOctane-r16.cdl64, c4dOctane-r15.cdl64, etc..

We're going to have to clone Ahmet so the clone can start working on updates for the standalone 2019.2 too, they would be finished in a week! :D Thanks man for the update!

Can a vertex map be the input for the blend value in a Displacement mixer?

I still see a few minor issues with the new OSL options interface in the Node Editor:

1) Dragging out a new OSL node from the top "OSL Texture" side menu still produces the error

But after hitting the OK button, the correct default OSL node is created.

2) I thought that the "OSL[/]" side menu item would show the root contents of the /osl_scripts directory, but it doesn't show anything when I put any scripts there. Am I missing something? Is there a way to define which directory that button links to?

3) The Show/Hide Category button for OSL at the top of the Node Editor only shows/hides the "OSL texture" button in the Side Menu, but it does not show/hide whole set of OSL sub categories, as I think it probably should.

This is under OS 10.12.6, C4D R21.

These are all relatively minor, and don't directly affect functionality.

Displacement is not supporting vertex color/maps as far as I know

Hi Ahmet,

I am referring to this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=85&t=73081&start=50#p372273

I did all that was advised:
1-Downgrade to Studio 431.84 with CLEAN install
2-Use a default layout
3-Delete prefs folder for testing and remove all other plugins for testing

I tried this with both V 2019.1.3 and 2019.1.4 with no luck. C4D always freezes - mostly after entering node editor.
This is kind of annoying :-(
