I've long thought about the future of 3D in AE, and the seemingly tough limitation to bypass it is the fact that AE doesn't progressively refine a single frame, but only displays the rendered result after it is completely finished. So how will Octane, a progressive refinement renderer, fit into the mix here? I'm thinking of a complex comp where it is already taking 10 seconds to display the final result on a frame... if the bottom of that comp, the 3D render, is updating 15 times a second as it progressively refines, wouldn't AE also then need to update it's stack of FX processed after Octane's render. So I'm just not understanding how we can get realtime 3D in a compositing environment.
I look very forward to hearing more about this.
