I think is stated as a 2019.2 feature. Full support for the RTX real time cores. So we will need to wait for the next release. But 2019.1 does have interesting features. I am looking forward to the layered and composite materials the most. That will add a lot of flexibility in material creation. In 2019.2 along with the full RTX support I am also looking forward to their Spectral hair material and improvements in the SSS (viewtopic.php?f=33&t=72221). Having a separate hair material that is geared towards how hairs look in real life is most welcomedlobstermd wrote:So RTX support?face_off wrote:I hope to get an Octane 2019.1 version released by the end of this week. When will Octane render daz plugin be updated to 2019.1 or 2019.2?

I am very disappointed that I could not get Composite or Layered materials working in the plugin. These nodes use a variable number of pins, which do not conform to the standard Octane pin structure, so regretfully they could not be implemented. The same applies for the Spectron Volumetric spotlights. The other items above should be there.I hope we are getting all the features mentioned for 2019.1 like :
OSL Vertex displacement, and Vertex displacement mixer
OSL Shaders for volume textures
Layered material
Composite material
Thin wall in Universal Material
Bloom/glare threshold
AI Up-sampler
Spectron Volumetric spotlights
Vertex Displacement Auto-Bump Shading
This should be done in the next release.Btw. Can you also add preview thumbnails within the NGE for the Universal Material ? It shows for Diffuse, Glossy, Metallic, Specular and Toon, but no preview thumbnail is generated for the Universal Material.
I'm not sure at the moment - sorry. The Layered Materials use a different Octane node structure, which the DAZStudio plugin does not support. So I don't see a solution being found in the near future. You said Layered Materials could not be implemented. Is this just a current statement and is it possible to get them in future update or is this an absolut limitation of the plugin?
It should be ready shortly after the next Octane 2019.2 release. The new Random Walk Medium looks like it could be pretty amazing as part of a skin shader.Do you already have an idea when you are able to update to 2019.2?
I think a Diffuse Material with a Sheen Layer may be a better skin shader solution than the traditional Mix Material, but I haven't had time to experiment in detail. Will the new material nodes have an effect on skin-material creation?
There si no difference between the 2019 Studio version and the Octane 4 version with regards to dForce hair. Check viewtopic.php?f=44&t=71635 for some hints regarding hair. Can dForce hair be used in the Studio Subscription license for the Daz plugin? I have the Perpetual license (4.02) and dForce hair is essentially useless.
