How to use the volumetric spotlight with the modo plugin

Hi everyone,

I'm heading to a project where I'll need volumetric spot lights.

Standalone has this nice handy spotlight node - how can I use this in the plugin?
I tried it via orbx proxy, but that causes an octane error.

A little help will be very much appreciated ;)

Hi David

Are you able to send me the ORBX containing the Volumetric Spotlight which causes the Octane Log error please?

Which version of the plugin are you using?

Hi Paul,

thanks for taking care!

Please find attached the files. I use the latest 2019 versions of both plugin and standalone.

Best,
David

Thanks David. The errors occur because the Volumetric Spotlight is a "Build in node graph" type, which does not allow an Object Layer node to be plugged into the Object Layer Map that the proxy ORBX file is plugged into. I have reported this to OTOY, so hopefully they will address this issue. Unfortunately there is not a workaround to this problem.

Hi Paul,

thanks a lot!

In the meanwhile I'll use the classic medium method.

Best,
David

This seams to work now. The only problem, that i had, was that if i edit the proxy the spotlight won't update on some attributes

I am hopeful that the Volumetric Spotlight will be supported via the Modo spotlight item in the next release of the plugin.
