Does anyone animate with Sketchup (and involve the plugin?)

I'd be really interested to hear if anyone has used any Sketchup extension to produce frames, and has integrated that into the plugin somehow. The closest I have thought of sonething coming close to this would be to export out a Sketchup scene to 3DS max or Daz Studio and then hack it out there, with their Octane plugins animation ready, although that usually sets you up to encounter a lot of work and issues with Obj and Fbx conversion.
But natively in Sketchup, with the plugin?

(For a panning animation or walk through, sometimes I have just mouse-moved and rendered the frame by frame manually to get something close to a camera-view render. I wish I knew how to run a script where the plugin would auto save a frame every 20 seconds and then I could just run some extension to help me traverse the scene on a 20 second delay.)

Any thoughts or crazy ideas welcome!

If I remember well rappet or seeker animated in SU, not sure though.

What about exporting SU to ocs and using the LUA plugin in the standalone?

LOL...thanks! Gave it a try.
Looks awful... s/px was '1', and I downconverted that from an 450Mb AVI to a 5Mb MP4, so it loos 'wavy'...
But still! I'll have to mess with this...Thinking now I'd want it to have animated objects within the scene as opposed to just a pan/zoom, but possibilities are here!

Hi Notius,
There are loads of SU plugins for animation sequencing as you probably know, but sadly none that Octane works. The irony is that it should not be hard for Otoy to create a sequencer that works with one the animation plugins. But as much as I love SU I can't hold my breath on Octane for SU to be developed with long term commitment. That is why I am considering C4D. Let me know if your find another solution though...
Best,
Seeker

Hi,

Integrating with other plugins (including those that allow for animation in SU) should be made considerably easier with the v3 releases. Priority has been given to the Skatter plugin first, with that providing a case that other plugin integration testing can follow, for a quicker turnaround.

Fredo6 is working on an keyframe animation plugin for SketchUp, due in summer sometime reminds me a little of Flash. I suggested they look into Alembic export, they said this is a good feature request. As of right now there's not really a good way to record from SketchUp. Other than in the basic geometry to image sequence or video format.

Thank you for that. Looking over this thread has given me an idea - I'm going to see if something like, say for instance, a popular feature poll could be a good way of gathering the collective demand of the SU user community. I will post about it later today after a clear a few other tasks
