Got a problem that wasn't there last week, and I don't know why it's happening now. Whenever I create an Octane HDRI environment and add an HDR file, it comes in extremely dark and contrasty. Changing the power in the environment tag, or changing the exposure of the HDR file doesn't make it better. What's going on?

Hi,
firstly check that the Gamma is set to 1 in the ImageTexture node of the Environment node, then check the value in the new Channel format parameter of 3.08. By default is set to Half that means 16bit, to save system RAM, but depending on the quality of the HDRI, you have to set to Float = 32bit, or Auto to read the depth directly from the file.

Hi Beppe, thanks for the answer - the HDR Gamma setting is greyed out in the ImageTexture node. Where is the new channel format setting?

Hi,
the Gamma value is working properly here, and the Channel Format option is inside the ImageTexture node in 3.08:

Do you have the Take system active?

I think my set-up was wrong. I'd loaded the HDR straight into the Environment Tag. Instead I should have loaded an ImageTexture and then loaded the HDR into that.
