I've posted on the main fourum this question:

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=59509

Summarising:
- the "Export materials" and "Updating time" phases takes usually a lot of time, specially with heavvy scenes,
- I ask which hardware parts are involved during these phase in order to know what to do when is time to buy a new machine or to upgrade some parts
- in special way what is the percentage of importance in these phases of:

CPU frequency
CPU n. core
PCI -E GEN 2 /3
RAM (DDR3/DDR4)
GPU kind
OS
...
Since I haven't recieved answer from the other side I re-post here the question, since is really important for my opinion (and I think also for other users).
Thanks a lot.

Better to extend your tests by different scenarios. Same hardware with different contents.
As i know material creations will take time due loading and uncompressing the images. Not else. Plugin times are always much smaller against to render's processing times. Because plugin will not load images just register and call update mechanism. Rest is in the renderer.

So during the "export material" step it is only a CPU work uncompressing the images, correct?
And what happens during the "updating" step? It's again a CPU load?

Thanks for the patience.
