Hi, I'm new to the Maya plugin (used years ago with v1, forgot everything).
I just purchased and downloaded the latest version (3.03.1 - 8.0 Win [ALPHA])
As soon as I click render Maya crashes instantly.
Every icon I click in the Octane menu bar, gives me errors in the lower Maya bar.
Creating an Octane camera just creates a normal Maya camera with none of the Octane options.
The Environment doesn't have any options.
Where is the manual? How do I use this thing?
Is it actually usable?

I'm using Maya 2016 Extension 1 + SP4

Sorry to say, but I would not suggest to use V3.0 alpha of the Maya Plugin yet.
It will take multiple months to have something stable I guess.
So only version 2 will be a serious option which still suffers some problems but much better then V3 alpha.

No, this is unacceptable. I purchased v3, which means there is a v3 of the plugin. If Otoy is selling a non-working version of the plugin they are basically scamming the users. If the plugin is not ready why is it on sale right now??? :x

You are right. There shouldn't be a commercial sale of the V 3.0 Maya plugin.
That makes no sense at the moment. Only if you label it "reduced preorder with experimental alpha release" or so.

Why there is no reply from the devs? What is going on? :x

Exactly the same thoughts here. There was no warning about the state of the 3.0 plugin development when purchasing. You'd assume buying a Maya 3.0 plugin would mean there is one but at the time I paid it wasn't even in alpha.

The amount of issues with the current 2.0 version is shocking, this shouldn't be a one man job. No offence to Kai but we paid a fair amount of money for this, the least you'd expect would be a semi useable version of what we paid for. Otoy really doesn't seem to care much about their customers. I didn't purchase a preorder, I paid the same price as everyone else on software packages with full integration, but I'm going to have to wait multiple months until it's even viable in my workflow.

This week there will be a release fixing some issues as the IPR crash and adding some shelf buttons to create basic nodes and connect volumes to the node graph.

Atm please remember to create the basic nodegraph by hand:

nodegraph reference
