Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2013.5, 2014, 2015 and 2016 64-bit on MS Windows operating systems.

Notes regarding features/functionality

OctaneRender™ for Maya® implements almost full functionality of OctaneRender™ standalone inside Maya®.

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Maya®, you need to also have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy activated on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto.
You cannot purchase and use only the Maya plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of OctaneRender™ Standalone on your machine

If you do not own an OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition License yet:
You can purchase both the OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition and the OctaneRender™ for Maya® Edition as a reduced price bundle, purchase the bundle priced at 459€

If you already own one or more OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition licenses you want to pair the plugin with:
Purchase an "OctaneRender™ for Maya® License" priced at 199€

You can also purchase a 3, 5 or 10 pack of OctaneRender™ for Maya® licenses, just like OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition packs.


OCTANELIVE

Just like OctaneRender™ Standalone, the Maya® plugin product also needs an additional OctaneLive license and be activated on a machine.
This has to be done in the plugin interface panel in Maya, and is covered in the included PDF manual.
It can only be done after an OctaneRender™ Standalone license is already activated on the machine in question.


CHANGES SINCE THE PREVIOUS VERSION
  • Fixed the "ncam" command line flag.
  • Added the EXR-resolution setting to Octane "Additional" tab (16-bit or 32-bit).
  • Added "Passes EXR channel names" tab to Octane settings. Needed to fine-tune for some applications expecting specific channel names in EXR for specific passes.
  • Added "Ignore frame sequence bounds" to motion blur settings. If set - the full frames span will not be required for each motion-blurred frame.
  • Fixed alembic export bug.
  • Fixed "Before" internal motion blur mode bug.
  • Minor fixes and improvements...

As promised we got a new developer here to be dedicated to Maya plugin. This must speed up the Maya plugin development, 'cause I've been loaded by a lot of different projects and Maya development has slowed down as a consequence...
So, please meet k.a.schubert. ;)

Please don't expect the immediate development speed up, because k.a.schubert needs some time to dig into a plugin...

and thanks again for the updates, hope this will help you with all the hard job on Maya. :D I'm really help to hear that.
Also if you don't mind could you tell me a time or schedule for a alpha plug for Octane 3 please ?
I guess you Guys work on this one?

Hi Jim

Find one issue when camera mapped is activate and I activate the Id and change for layer pass the camera projection changes here the attach file.

...I'm not use so much that features but I was testing still not working well for me. Or maybe something setup in wrong way?

Of course if I do in the opposite way, that's mean change the default ID of the other but not of the mesh with projection is working..So the problem must come from geometry type with camera mapped activate on the textures.

aswell EXR passes for layer I have problems to render not copiled and doesn't render to I use maya 2014

Hi Guys,

Really interesting features but doesn't seems to work as well the name are different layers reflection the case to rename the pass reflection channel???

Is missing organisation on the passes names would be good to have a tab layout organisation as the standalone (attach images)... in this version a lot bug to render one exr with passes included I will have a look on others Maya plug later night .

Please guys would be great to have this working well.

with this version when batch rendering, "_passes" is added to the file name of the render ( example : image_0001_passes.exr ).
This is not nice to work with file sequence in post, file sequences are not recognized as file sequences anymore because of this...
