hi
i have just upgraded to forest pro 4.4.1, and would like to use the stones that comes with this release.
i can add but the materials are not working :-/
so i try to edit the materials myself, but everytime i reopen the octane render window, the materials are reset :-/
is here anyway i can fix this or create a workaround?
i'm using octane pluging version 2.23.2 - 2.8
thanks

I have no direct answer to this but all I can say is that you duplicate that _automat material with a copy and keep it under mat editor.Jorgensen wrote:hi

put your altered materials to the scene replacing the old one.
I think you better ask this on the iTOO's forum. Maybe the plugin initializes the materials on every start from Forestpacks own library.
We really need good interaction an cooperativity with Octane Max development and itoo.
it's really sad not seeing this happening.

hi oguzbir
thanks for your input. i'm really looking forward to use forest pro again, it's such a powerfull tool.
i posted in the itoo forum, and got a message that they are wating for otoy to have a 'finished' plugin.
there are some workarounds, but it gets to complicated and time-consuming for me.

There is a workaround that might help you that I always do to export the scene to standalone as mesh instances.
Create your forest.
Duplicate and save out the forest object just case for backward alterations.
Unhide and Unfreeze the source meshes in the layer forest_templates so you can select the source meshes.
Make all the source meshes as octane proxies by ticking on Movable proxy option. (Select > Right-click > Octane Properties>Movable proxy)
Select your forest object and go to Utilities > More >Forest Tool
Tick on Move to layer > Name your layer > Optimize your materials to Octane renderer and Instantiate. (For large areas make sure Freeze and Appear as Boxes Options are ticked. This will result a faster view-port)
Let It finish and you will have your forest instances as meshes in a different layer.
Unfreeze the layer to be able to select and edit individual mesh.
Group them.
At this point, You should save out just the forest as a different file and xref it back in.
You can also export it out as an octane file to render in standalone.
Good luck!
