Hello, dear support!
First of all! Thank you very much for Ornatrix Adaptation and for W map =) But I have some question to you =)
1. How did you realize this? Can you share the scene?
2. I tried to create the same material like as vray hair mtl =) But not understand what I should do =))) and how can create the same material like this?
Can you tell about this step by step? What I should do to create the same material with random texture and position along strand effect?
As you can see - I have multicolored vertical stripes on this ball and random texture (spiral stripes with multicolored triangles)
I already created awesome material for this girl =)
But her hair without W feature and now I want to make more realistic hair, want to improve my hairshader with W feature =))
And my request for future versions - Please create HairShader mtl with presets=) like as VrayHairMtl or Redshift or Arnold =))
Because mixing - isn't a good idea =)) I think many Octane users will agree with me =)
That's all =) Hope you will help me =)
Best regards, Andrew.

Hi Andrew,
That animated GIF I shared some time ago is just a turntable animation of some geometry I generated using a LUA script that was basically populating the geometry node's
Also, if you are using 3DSmax, in order to be able to use hair gradients, you need to use at least v3.05 - 4.29, so I'd recommend downloading the latest version if you don't have it already here:
viewtopic.php?f=80&t=59454
Hair gradients have been supported in the Octane core since v3.04, so you can take a look at the release notes to see how it works:
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=56856&hilit=hair
Let me know if you still need help with this.

attribute with different values for each frame. Hello, Mojave.
First of all - thank you for you answer. =)
Yes, I saw hair gradient options in Octane Standalone =) But I like work in 3dsmax integration =) And in 3dsmax Octane 3.05.3 - 4.30 - I can't find this.
When I created gradient map and added in Input - W coordinate - I had an awesome effect =) Like this =) This is cool and thank you for this feature.
Material nodes:
Material preview:
When I added random texture map - I had this.
MAterial node:
Material preview:
But as I understand, with above option in Octane Standalone - we can control color per strand like as in Vray material ( vertical lines on a ball) which I showed in previous post.
So =) We need a Default hair gradient interpolation option in 3dsmax =)) and chance to add random texture in which every color will be use per strand.
Best regards, Andrew.

But still the same problem on the standalone right because we have to choose the type of hair as "hair length" so the option to have random hair doesn't work anymore how to make work bouth?mojave wrote:Hi,
The 3DsMax plugin dev has been notified about this and that flag will be available in the next build.
Thanks for the heads up!
on the standalone random color and the ramp color along the hair? because the option "hair length" and "segment count" can't be set by texture on the shader so how to do it a random colour can we have a example scene on standalone please? maybe is me I don't see one other way to add the random please any help?

Could we have then for Maya aswell we ask alredy support for hairs, we have only nhair for now and it's a huge pain to work, with no support for any other Hair plugs such Ornatrix,Shave hair cut or Xgen.
For Hair work's in Maya still complicated as workflow

About Yeti, this is by far the best Fur plugin for Maya,Elvissuperstar007 wrote:yeti maya does not work

But only Peregrinelabs can make the Octane support happen,
because the Yeti fur is procedurally generated with their proprietary technology.
Also Octane doesn't support procedural primitive at all,
so the support will be only possible trough the Yeti alembic curve's cache feature,
and for the moment it's not even possible to render directly alembic curves as Octane hair in the Maya plugin...

Also the Octane Maya plugin have lost a lot of credibility these last 2 years as a production renderer (as it was almost abandonned),
so I guess Peregrinlabs don't even think about supporting Octane.

Yes, Calus...
I never use yeti before something to try, maybe if the support of Alembic curves? but still pain in the neck to make maya deal with all curves I didn't tried with alembic curves...
