Common Issues and Solutions
- If the plugin doesn't work at all, set HOUDINI_DSO_ERROR = 2 in houdini.env and check for messages in the terminal.
- If you're missing libglut.so.3, install the freeglut package.
- If you are having any issues with the Deadline - please submit a support ticket to the AWS.

Happy rendering,

Hi, Thank you for this new build version 2024, there is a question I wanted to ask regarding a feature that would be very useful, in Redshift there is an option that allows you to render in the IPR and refresh continuously in real time in any perspective without having the need for an activated or created camera. This is extremely useful because I don't have to use a camera or create it to adjust something in the scene. Is there any implementation possibility on this? This feature is implemented in Cinema 4D and Octane.

Thanks.

Hi raulofs,

Thanks for the suggestion, I will add it as a feature request in our system. At the moment I cannot give you an eta, but I would assume it is possible.

Houdini crashes quite a lot. The most "stable" crash is when I render to disk and trying to cancel rendering.

Also what was the point of trying to change the ROP node with all these additional options if it still not clear how one can export PNGs with ACEScg baked in as sRGB? All I can see some new buttons that don't improve functionality, everything works as bad as before

Hi lavrenovlad,

Are you trying to save the image from IPR or from ROP? Is it just in the 2024.1 alpha build or also production?

Thanks!

Both, the previous version is the same. Saving from ROP. I didn't find a way to render out a sequence in png with the correct looking result as in the IPR.

Can you supply us with a scene for that crash. We can't reproduce it but fixed another issue indirectly.

Thanks!

Try running with one of the denoisers maybe? Every project file crashes a lot with this version, no need to do anything special. If it was crashing for a specific project/case I'd share a scene.
Latest 2023 doesn't crash when canceling rendering process. I use 19.5.605 python 3.7 build in Houdini btw

As I mentioned on the other thread to you, we can't reproduce the crash with the denoiser - but may be a standalone issue. Do you get a crash there with your scene?

As for ACES, you shouldn't really have to do anything special. Use the defaults and if you are using OCIO then choose the appropriate role when saving out your PNG or PNG 16bit through ROPS. Such as:

Code: Select all

color_picking
Color spaces / Output / Output - sRGB
etc.
That should give you the same result if you are using the view transform for IPR such as "ACES: sRGB"
