Hi,

This is a production release of the OctaneRender™ 2020.1 for Houdini™ plugin compiled with the Octane 2020.1.5 core. This 2020.1.5.0 release is available for the Houdini 16.5/17.0/17.5/18.0 latest production builds on Windows x64, Linux gcc6.3.1 and MacOS 10.12.

Make sure to use a NVIDIA Studio driver with version at least 451 on Windows or 450 on Linux to use this version. No driver updates are required for macOS.

I've installed Octane on Houdini Apprentice for the first time. IPR rendering works but it is extremely slow, samples are accumulating very slowly, monitoring GPUs I can see all 6 are close to 100%, dragging the content of IPR window is very sluggish. IPR responds with significant delay when moving the camera. The same object renders super fast in another 3D package. Material is just default material. I am total Houdini newbie.

Scratch that, it works fine now after app restart.

Hey Boris ;) The IPR in Houdini is built around a custom OpenGL window that should be really fast. The drawback is that it is based on an old library no longer fully supported, especially on MacOS, so the goal is to replace it for a modern, Qt5 based, IPR. If you need help with the Houdini plugin, let me know ;)

You know we will want it :P someone announces 2020.2 and we all start yelling and screaming ;) no matter how long ago we got the last build :P

Why when i change "volume step leng" and "vol. shadow step" in setings ABSORPTION or random walk, with specular shader, i don't see changes at all?

Hi,

I just downloaded and installed the new version. Octane says no GPU's are enabled and there are no gpu's listed in the options. Win10+Houdini 18.0.499.

Please, update your NVIDIA drivers to the latest STUDIO version available (not the game ready ones).

Well, that's the thing, I just did. Maybe something went wrong ( using 456.38-desktop-win10-64bit-international-nsd-dch-whql )
