Hello JuanJGOn,


Me again, i'm sorry,
so i can see the render in the IPR : i've jumped from frames to frames by 30 frames steps and everything is ok.
Then i was on my way final render so i've tried everything i could but nothing can resolve my problem : houdini crash just at the saving file moment,
the renderer does its render but then at 97% it crash the app. > Denoiser ? MB ? i don't know/.
It happens for one image render or for a seq / with Mplay or without .

My two cents : denoiser : but it works in the IPR previews so that might not be that.
MB ? may be i've added a trail node to compute velocity but that might not be the process for octane.
All the computationnal CPU parts regarding geo are cached (53 go).
I have a shader with both a rgb attribute and a float attribut : new stuff ;)
Let's try to find a solution without the file if possible cause 53 go is a bit too much for a transfer and without caching the geo would be like 10 mn of wait to be seen in the scene.

You will see several errors in the following log file :

Hmm, this seems a crash in the Octane native saving functions. What are you saving options in the Octane ROP node, Output tab? Does your user have permissions to write to this folder? If you want to send me the .hip file without any additional assets or cache files I could take a look at it here.

Here are screenshots of the rop output.

i've been making a copy of the render target_dl1 by alt clic and drag to have a copy of those params but the rop is fully connected to the rendertarget.
i can save files from the houdini mplay in the render folder

I've just tried to render on C: same thing happens (crash) with this last info :
5096: Fatal error: Segmentation fault.

i keep on investigating.

i've made a simple scene to be sure : it renders and saves image,
i keep on investigating in the file with problem by deleting render target and outdriver, then re create it from scratch from the octane shelf /

Wookay,

something is weird,

i've done a render (YES!) one image ... DL 640-320 defaults params

so i did another one replicating the exact same params as the final rendertarget and output params with the exception of downsizing the samples : CRASH /
> this is it /


So i did another try and unchecked MB, denoising, Ai lights, adaptive sampling and it RENDERS /

So crash occurs from one of those : MB, denoising, Ai lights, adaptive sampling i'm going to check them one by one again and render to see where it comes from exactly,
then i'll send you my file.

Tests :

adaptive sampling : render

ai lights : render

denoising : renders

MB : lets go :

i have different option to check

enable MB : render
enable MB + camera MB : render
enable MB + camera MB + objects MB : i think i i've catched the devil guy so i added an attrib delete node set to "v" to all the geo for render : render


so there is no velocity attribute for octane to render motion blur geometry at all so how will the renderer knows the pos difference between frame A and B ?
i've added this trail node just for that reason : to have Octane being aware of the computed velocity at geometry level /
Does it have to be a prim attribute or vertex ? right now it'a a point attribute.

i'm sorry it crashes again for no reason, it rendered i saw it rendered an image. i closed the file just opened it again and now it crashes again,
restart computer /.
i'm beginning to loose my enthousiasm.

From your log, the crash happens after the rendering has finished, so it only can be related to the image saving functions. Can you please disable the "Asynchronous file save" option in the Output tab and try again?
