Re: NEW: Octane X - is finally here! [MEGA FAQ THREAD]
Hi Serge, That is an interesting metric I hadn't considered. I'm on the OS version that came with the machine, stock. Perhaps the 12.01 version, released on 26 October, has better drivers? If anyone else has thoughts about increasing performance, I'm eager to implement them.

Hello Beppe,
The laptop was plugged-in, in fact. Additionally, no other applications were running. Is this a lower score than you anticipated? If you have any other tests or suggestions for better performance, I would be eager to try them.

Re: NEW: Octane X - is finally here! [MEGA FAQ THREAD]
It seems quite responsive, just a little bit slower than the W5700X. I'm very curious to see how it handles my bigger scenes. I ran the chess set scene to keep the results comparable to a graph we've been using to measure Octane X performance. If I remember correctly the complete version of Octane ...

Hello friends, I've had a chance to run the chess scene on a 16" m1x 32core with 64GB ram. PT version completes in 25 seconds.

Re: OctaneX Enterprise PR7 for BigSur
This is such great news. I'm amazed by all of the work that the team at Otoy have done to bring, and then keep, Octane on the Mac. Thank you! I'm wondering if anyone might be able to give me a sense of the performance of the M1 chip, as I am in the process of purchasing a new laptop and would love ...

Re: Octane X for Mac with AMD!!!
I'm also very eager to hear additional details about this! Waiting to purchase hardware depending on the performance of Octane on AMD hardware running in MacOS. It would be amazing to build scenes on a Mac Pro, then send larger renders to the Nvidia render boxes.

Re: Insufficient free RAM Preferences
Thanks for your reply, Paul. Well, yes, the too many verts warning is understandable and I’ve learned how to work around that. Yet, reviewing this thread, I do not believe any of the three people commenting have raised an objection to this dialogue box. To reiterate: the problem is with the ...

Re: Insufficient free RAM Preferences
Ha, yes, this is exactly what I’ve been playing with. I’d like to second what Funk is saying. If there is a way you could make this optional Paul, I’d appreciate it. Perhaps this is not an issue with Mac OS because of how the scratch disks work by default when RAM pages out? Appreciate your comments ...
