I have test the new plugin for Max. And I got some questions as follow:

1.It can not load the default materials in MAX. We need to assign a new Octane material manually. Will it add a convert materials Button as the "convert Vray materials"?

2.it can only use the emitter as light source like ...

I reduced gray color value (walls material) from (230,230,230)/(0.9,0.9,0.9) to (122,122,122)/(0.5,0.5,0.5) and I've got this result. Less fireflies, but standalone version is still much cleaner.

I did similar test and I can say that octan standalone (beta 2.56)is faster and less noisy.
Here first test.
Scene settings:
Kernel: Pathtracing 1000 samples (other by default)
Background (color max/octane): (255,255,255)/(1,1,1)
Materials: both diffuse material, gray color (230,230,230)/(0.9,0.9,0 ...

1. PAUSE button is wanted :)

3. Rotate HDRI map in environment
4. I noticed one thing - every time when I'm selecting objects in 3dsmax viewport - octane is starting render again. I'm not trying to navigate in viewport (in this situation octane have to start render again ...

I didnt saw ANY ENTRY WITH ALPHA SHADOWS. so again... whats the point.... ...and if someone tells me about alpha channel... ...Ill reply that he could make it in his main 3d package... ...like oldschool alpha for octane...
