My apologies for the confusion caused by the last TEST release. I have now reuploaded all the .98 releases and updated the links at the top of this thread.
The only thing is that the material preview ball looks a bit too milky. It seems the color management is different for that. Can the material ball color correspond 1:1 to the diffuse color box?
The other question I have is the appearance of the color in the viewport. Rhino makes it quite shiny and soft color while octane shows it really strong as setted up.
I think this is because the Rhino viewport is excessively reflecting the environment. The plugin converts an Octane specular value of 1 to a Rhino material reflectivity of 0.5, and you can see that even at 0.5, the Rhino viewport if reflecting a lot of the environment.

BTW
I have just installed the last version of OctaneRender for Rhino6 4.00.0.98 (64 bit) but I have the same issues with materials preview. The issue seems only with material GRID and TREE preview. LIST seems to be ok

Hi Paul,
I have installed octane 4 on another pc and everything works fine.
I'll look for the reason for the bad preview in the other pc

Grid and Tree view are previewing OK for me - so this is potentially a Rhino6 issue.

Could it be related to Color Management in Rhino6 that the Shader preview looks brighter then the diffuse color?

The milkiness is due to you having Specular = 1.
