Update image: Jan 08, 2011

I am Cristiano Policarpo and am part of BaloOm Studios. The inspiration image came from a 3D animated short film we are producing about a robot postman.

Character (PoustEx), mailbox, van, and other elements modeled in modo 401.

Modeling architecture and scenery in Google Sketchup.

Grass in C4D and Zbrush.

Texturing in BodyPaint and Pixelmator.

Composition of the scene with the character and elements in C4D.

Rendering, set of materials and reduction of hot pixels in Octane Render.

Color Correction in Adobe Lightroom.

Note: image of sky and mountains in the background, all the rest is geometry.

Woot, very nice models, render and i like the idea very much.
Only one critic, the grass. Maybe you could expand the floor in the shadow area under the fence to cover.

Congratulations and cheers, mib

" Leukaemia's Diary "

Thru those pictures I wanted to show, that You re just a puppet in her hands. I was aiming for at least 30 seconds of emotional reflections from watcher. Thats always my goal. ;)

TECHSTUFF:

( all things in this picture are mine )
Main 3D software - Autodesk Softimage 2011 SP1

5 lights - 271MB/881MB used - reached 4000 samples in 5 hrs - on multi GPU GTX295 - only last image is scaled down.

From things we could do I only added bloom with very high radius.

Ill break whole image on single renders on 13th of January , till then You need to watch 3in1 ;)

Actually the competition has been extended for two more weeks (because of the new version coming out next week). It just hasn't been officially announced in this thread.
