How do you guys create the fine structures? Do you use a "boring" main model and add tons of greebles as separate objects just manually stuck onto everything ... or do you actually subdivide the big mehs to have extra vertexes to go detailed?

I never know which one to chose ... especially since maintaining quads will kind of create a million billion proper loops, with most vertexes not needed ... but locally subdividing creates 5 or higher ngons etc?

.. I'm making poly loops and extruding stuff out, it's faster that wat than adding the geometry on top, but this is evolving as I go, wanna do as much as I can with that technique - and yeah I have a lot of loops so far.. it's a combination of stuff.. go with whatever works fastest for me
