Hi Karba!

Would it be very hard to implement a free camera option in 1.11 like i asked for in this thread:

http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=28490

It would be so amazing and could save me so many hours in my upcoming projects! Maybe you could have a look at it! A free camera, without a target, could save me tons of hours!

Kind regards Chris!

You can test my cam rig....
All is done with max camera (fov, focal distance,...), then render with octane camera.

then render with octane camera.
Hi HHBomb!

Thanks for your answer and help!

I am sorry i do not understand what you mean if you say - then render with octane camera!

When i animate your cam i set keys and everything works fine! But i have no idea how i can get those keys, the way i "flight" and how i changed DOF and aperture over time to my octane camera!

Maybe i miss something :-)

My idea is to fly through a szene, like i am used from normal perspective view or at least with the standart free camera, where all axes from the 3d mouse are "free". Then i wanna set in the octane camera a fitting DOF like about 10cm, that fits perfectly for my jewelry, and do some final adjustments to my key in the animation curves and / or set some keys with the fokus picker in the octane viewport and done. Like i am used from the "sandart" free camera or at least vray camera only without the fokus picker. If i "have" to use target fokus i am allways bound to the target and i can not move "free"!

Thanks again for your help - Chris!

Please, could you save a max2012 version of that file, too?
Thanks a lot!

Hello,
it is a little rig, because I use 3dconnexion mouse (I need a free camera) but I need to animate target (octane camera focus is on target)
Animate a target in octane need to have a target, I need to use an octane camera driven by a free max camera.
To animate, use max camera (Y_cammax).
In modify panel (Attribut holder) you have acces to FOV,and distance of the target.
To see better the target I made an object (Y_rep) at the same place of the target, you can change its size and Apparence (Thickn), depending of the type of scene u have.
Best is to keep my scene on desktop (for eg) and just merge all objects in your scene (rename them if you do it multiple times).
You cannot render with max camera, because it don't have a target, so not animated.
Hope it help.

Your Idea was great and your Cam is really great too!

I made an animation now with it and it works at least a lot more better with this rig, than with the standart Octane Camera alone. Thank you!

But it is not exactly what i am looking for. I wanna have a completely free camera animatable with all the Octane parameters. Just like the standart octane camera, but without the "target". For my upcoming szenes i need to be able to rotate the horizont, do exact and nice looking DOF playing and some other things. All that is possible with the octane camera, but i only can do it with drawing paths and stick the cam to the paths and animate the target from the cam too. It takes a lot of time, like i compared in my thread 48 minutes, why i could set up the same szene with a normal free camera within 6 minutes.

Thats why i asked karba here if it would be a lot of work to implement this option in 1.11! It would be really really great!

Thanks for your help HHBomb!

Chris!

On 2nd May 2012 Karba wrote in your thread: I can add an additional camera type.

Do you have any Idea why he did not do it in 9 month? Maybe he forgot it?
