Hi,

Thanks, edgesplit does the job indeed.

There is also an option in MOI to unweld the vertices at export, this gives a similar result as edgesplit.
Useful if you don't have any displacement to do.

I had mixed result importing smoothgroups.
It may be a good thing to have such an option in Octane, in the smoothing pane, maybe a checkmark with a numeric input field for the smoothing angle.

I don't really understand the terminology here. Can anyone point me to a good explanation of what smoothgroups/(normal)smoothing/etc is? Thanks

Hi Candide,

From what I gather, smoothing give a soft transition between polygons.

Smooth groups limits this soft transition by a specified angle.
For example polygons having more than 30 degrees of difference between them are not smoothed.
This angle value is usually an input from the user.

The simplest thing to to avoid smoothing angle problems from Moi3d exports is to uncheck "Weld vertices along edges" in MOI3d meshing dialog.
