Hi Paul,
I'm not a color expert and I'm not a software coder too. So what I'm saying might not make sense or be wrong.
I imagine a start point from 0 and then a range from -1 to 1. In the pic below (take from Affinity Photo) there is what I have in mind. Starting from 0 I have the ability to increase or decrease the value.
Same thing for bump, normal and every slide that in Octane start from maximum value (1)
Thanx

I have no issues with the way the plug-in is setup out of the box ; Octane is probably the best rendering plugin for Rhino . there are many things to tackle such as loading in ver 6 - now that would be great

The plugin needs to track the behavior of Octane Standalone as closely as possible, and doing things like having Brightness start at -1 deviates from that too much - sorry.I imagine a start point from 0 and then a range from -1 to 1. I have the plugin working with Rhino6 again - so will post a release for you to try in the next day or two.I have no issues with the way the plug-in is setup out of the box ; Octane is probably the best rendering plugin for Rhino . there are many things to tackle such as loading in ver 6 - now that would be great

Hi Paul,
I'm sorry if I come back to this topic but I really don't understand why In Node Graph values can go over 1 while in rhino some values can reach only 1 (for example brightness in color correction or Power in Sky texture (Octane Settings / Environment / Daylight Environment).
Please take a look at this comparison
bye

The Octane NodeGraph will allow numbers outside the normal range, however the Octane plugin uses the normal range (which is the NodeGraph slider range) as the valid range that values can be. If you have a material which needs a slider set outside it's valid range, you can use a NodeGraph material to achieve this.

Hi Paul and thank you for your reply.
Yes, I could use Node Graph when I need values greater than 1 but I always use color correction in my materials...
Rhino plugin has more limitations than node graph (for example in complex materials) but in normal use, it is really really simple and faster.
And this limitation isn't only in material nodes but even in power sky of the environment (as you can see in the previews post).
It's really a pity because, in my opinion, the rhino plugin and node graph are fantastic...but if I often use plugin and node graph in conjunction, my workflow slows down....
