Hi All,

Just to reiterate the points raised in the release post:

- We introduced Blender 2.79 in this version
- We made various improvements for Linux users, based on feature requests
- For 14.1 (expected for next week, we will have the Octane Render Pass issue resolved
- Due to the sensitive nature of the work in this and the next iteration, bug fixes/feature adds will be deferred to 14.2
- We will aim to quickly resolve all issues specific to the 14.0 changes, if critical bugs are identified.

Apologies to those who are urgently waiting for bug fixes that were not addressed in this release. We are aware and will tend to these within the Blender 14.x development window.

Cheers,
Azen

HI all,

First of all, my apologies for the belated release of the latest plugin version. We will push hard to have this available by tomorrow. We had been hit with an emergency situation that required urgent attention. We will strive to get our release cycle back on track. Our apologies again for the delay.

To update on what this release will contain:

Refactor blender render pass system
Add new passes (diffuse filter, reflection filter, layer shadow, layer black shadow, layer colour shadow, layer reflection, normal geometric, normal smooth, normal shading, normal tangent)
Fix disordered preview results
Support alpha channel in RenderLayer Node for octane render result
Rename "normal vertex" to "normal smooth"
Fix multiple other bugs in old render system

The next version after will involve a massive bug hunt (to minimize unforeseen stability issues, we held off on a number of bug fixes until we had stabilized higher-priority updates). The more feasible Feature Request updates will also be addressed, as much as possible.

Cheers,
Azen

Hi all,

Additional updates:

* Support stereoscopic camera in preview mode
* Use two camera image setting for render mode and preview mode; make it more understandable
* Fix black screen issue in stereo camera
* Fix bugs when choosing multiple textures with same name
* Fix render failure with rename material
* Fix texture reload issue in image texture node
* Fix wrong effect for “response type” in camera image
* Fix anti-virus false positive for window server
* Fix missing numpy lib in Linux build
* Fix missing ocean modifier in Linux build

There are even more fixes still in the works for the 14.x cycle. As a side note, the first 15.x release (release date TBD) will feature an update to Octane 3.08.

I will do all I can to complete testing and get this in the hands of our users for tomorrow.

Cheers,
Azen

I noticed that you have re-included Cycles into the plugin, which is awesome by the way! :D It's going to make it so much nicer to do texture baking and material conversion. Do you have plans on allowing Cycles to use the GPU? Or is that a by-product of the plugin? Thanks,

Jason

Hi all,

Things have been going well so far with Blender plugin development, with more still to come!

However, we have identified some issues regarding how Blender interacts with the Standalone. It appears that we may require updates to the Octane Standalone in order to get around these new issues. We sincerely apologize for this recent delay - we are working hard to get past this, as we have quite a growing list of fixes and improvements that we want to get into your hands asap.

Cheers,
Azen
