Hello. I'm using OctaneRender plugin for Blender v29.14 with my GeForce RTX 4090. :D

At our sun source, 100k spp (samples per pixel) at Path Tracing (PT) kernel - 540p vs 4320p:

4320p is much better caustics than 540p. :o  But 4320p is ~39x longer render time than 540p but 4320p is 64x higher resolution screen than 540p. Therefore, 4320p has 1.6x more performance efficiency. :)

Best regards. ;)

What kernel did you use ?
From what I have seen, photon tracing is far quicker for caustics rendering.
Work Station : MB ASUS X299-Pro/SE - Intel i9 7980XE (2,6ghz 18 cores / 36 threads) - Ram 64GB - RTX4090 + RTX3090 - Win10 64
NET RENDER : MB ASUS P9X79 - Intel i7 - Ram 16GB - Two RTX 3080 TI - Win 10 64

PT is path tracing. :)

I knew this kernel but unfortunately, Photon can't render any *variable* caustics on glossy floor and/or ground with the roughness of less than +/-0.4 - learn Variable caustics (new): Path Tracing vs Photon Tracing. ;)

My bad, I did not even notice « PT » in the title
