Random walk very slow

Hi there,

I'm working on a simple scene and using a random walk medium in a simple specular material, but I noticed it's strangely slow. Every time I make a change in the node editor in the specific material the live viewer seems stuck. A couple samples are rendered, but then stucks for like 30 seconds until it renders the rest of the preview. After that, I can navigate the scene normally and the LV also updates normally. It seems that this only happens with the medium node (scatter or random walk) any other material works fine.

Now I found when I disable the material preview in the cinema 4d viewport it works normal again. Which means I can make changes and all. Just thought I report it here so you can double check.

Working with Cinema 4D 2023 on a Macbook M2 Max. Tested with 2023.1.2(R7) and the latest.

Best,
Lars

Hi Lars,

weird, I have tried with c4doctane 2023.1.3-R2 in M2 Pro and both Randomwalk and Scattering Medium, but I cannot reproduce the issue here.

Is it possible for you to share an example scene that shows the issue?

Alternatively, please write to help at otoy dot com asking for Beppe, so I can investigate more deeply your case.

ciao,
Beppe
