3ds Max learning and advices for Octane

Hi everyone,

I'm an historical Archicad user and, for various needs, I'm starting to learn 3ds Max. Since I'm really starting learning from the basics, I would like to have some advices to learn it in the best way, looking at my future purpose of using it with the Octane plugin.

So, some of my questions are:

1) If I am going to purchase new libraries (such evermotion or similar), what kind of extension should I choose? Which of the available formats (normal .max, the .max mapped for vray, ecc.) would be the best choise to work with Octane?

2) I've read that Octane converts the already exitent materials to others Octane optimized. Is this for the 3ds o vray materials?

3) Any kind of advice you could kindly give to me, considering that I'm not a "converted max or max-v-ray user", but I'm starting from 0 and I want to use Octane as render engine for my future works.

Thanks a lot in advantage to anyone that will be so kind to help me in this stage.
