Does not have All-Access

I am not able to use V4 Octance ... I don't want upgrade or maintenance .. i just want to use the software which i paid for ..

I am given option to pay annual Maintenance for 199 Euro. WHY i rarely use octane and i don't need annual Maintenance.

Please Sort out this confusion.

Thanks

Hi alien,
your commercial v4 licenses are perpetual, and will be always yours.

You can find the latest stable 4.05 versions by visiting your personal Downloads area:
https://render.otoy.com/account/download_archive.php

If your licenses are listed as v3 in your OctaneLive page:
https://render.otoy.com/account/octanelive.php
You have to upgrade your version 3 licenses to version 4. This upgrade is free and can be done visiting the following link:
https://render.otoy.com/shop/upgrade.php?

Only if you want to use new versions like 2020.1.3, you have to update your licenses to v2020.

Hi alien,

@bepeg4d

i have some questions and please suggest me best buying options regarding:

1- I want to buy perpetual license, I can only pay once, thats what i can afford for now.

2- I want to be able to work offline, (in rural internet connection is not stable i don't want to be interrupted when using octane if there is no connection, i want to be able to use render)

3- All i need is 1 GPU render and full HD 1920p render resolution, i am hobbyist for now not doing commercial work, don't need advanced latest features but RTX support would be nice, i do daily simple 3d art.

Thanks in advance.

Hi! I'd like to figure out a bit more details about this upgrade:

  1. Does it also include All-Access for the unlimited time or just during the 1/2 Years of Maintenance?
  2. Am I right that won't get any updates of neither Standalone 2020.x nor plugins 2020.x after that 1/2 Years Maintenance is expired?
  3. Am I right that even if the 2021.x+ version is released on the next day I upgrade, my perpetual license will be limited by the last 2020.x version?
  4. How long AA-plugins for my perpetual 2020.x version will be supported after the newer versions of Octane (2021+) will be released?

The 4th quiestion is very important since you just sent the fuck to all users of the "perpetual" v.4 with plugins upgrades. For example lastest supported Houdini version is 17.5, and 2.79 vertion of Blender (and technically v.4 is nearly useless currently).

Hi aLeXXtoR,

The perpetual license is composed by Standalone and 1x plugin license.
The Annual Extension offers the possibility to use any kind of Octane DCC plugins (including C4D, OctaneX, and EmberGen beta), and also the RNDR/ORC Octane Render Cloud subscription (render credits need to be purchased separately).

So:

1. When the Annual Extension will be expired, you’ll go back to Standalone and 1x plugin.
2. Yes, you need to purchase another Annual Extension, if you want new versions, and all the advantages of the Annual Extension.
3. Yes, but technically there is a week of grace period , when a subscription end, and we should have to talk about v2021/2022, since the year is going to finish soon
4. When a new version is presented, it is in XB stage for some versions, then RC state, until the final stable release. This takes time, and during that time the current stable version is constantly updated.

Technically v4 was based on CUDA 10 (Pascal), then we had v2018 on CUDA 10.1 (Volta), then 2019 on CUDA 10.2 (Turing), and now 2020 on CUDA 11 (Ampere).
Things are evolving, and Nvidia has removed the Fermi GPUs support with CUDA 10.2, and now the support to Kepler GPUs (6XX/7XX) in CUDA 11.
Next time will be the time for Maxwell GPUs (9XX), and so on.

And here is what happen with Insydium X-Particles/Cycle in C4D:
31C0A596-732F-4C99-97B6-B8DEB0128ACB.jpeg

If you want to use them in C4D R23, you need to upgrade to the latest version, and take look at what happen if your maintenance expires:
https://insydium.ltd/products/maintenance/
Translating this to octane licenses, v4 users should have to purchase a full new licenses, or take a subscription, since 24 moths are already gone

With OctaneRender you can still upgrade your perpetual licenses even from v1, v2, or v3 (v3 from v4 upgrade is still free), that’s it.

Hello, not sure, if I'm in the right forum here, but I've got a question regarding an update from Octane v4 to 2020.x.

When I'm going onto the website, on the "Enterprise Maintenance Upgrade", I've got the option to "Upgrade legacy V4 perpetual licenses to 2020.x perpetual licenses".

I can choose between "Upgrade to OctaneRender Enterprise Upgrade + 1 Years Annual Maintenance (350.00 EUR)" and "Upgrade to OctaneRender Enterprise Upgrade + 2 Years Annual Maintenance (500.00 EUR)".

Now, if I choose either of these options, does that mean that when the new Annual Maintenance (that's included in the upgrade) expires...

a) My version of Octane will revert to 2020.x perpetually instead of v4?
b) I will still be able to use Octane in all of the DCCs? (I originally purchased a plugin for C4D and currently I can use my perpetual v4 only with this software)
c) I can continue to use as many GPUs as my system provides? (as this is currently the case with v4)

Thanks for clarifying this.

Hi Ferdinand13,

  • a: yes, when the Annual Extension will exire, you will remain with Standalone and C4D plugin updated to the last major version available in that moment, so if you choose two years, you will end up with v2022
  • b: nope, the use of all DCC plugins + RNDR/ORC subscription + extra modules are available only during Annual Extension period
  • c: yes sure, your perpetual enterprise license is always yours, and it doesn’t have any GPU limit, like Studio licenses have
