It's going to be easier to do that when 3DS Max is on the cloud already (next to those thousands of extra GPUs). This is possible to test with the ADSK AMI once we enable cloud rendering beyond one GPU in the plug-ins. If your Max exe is on your local machine, the best bet is to export to Alembic with 1.5 and then upload that to the cloud for final render - definitely possible to add that inside the plug-in itself, but that would have to be done on a per plug-in basis. We need to get 1.5 out first and see how the export->cloud approach works, and whether that is more useful than letting people work directly in Max on the cloud.
I think both are important. To use the cloud service for live render you now need > 3 Mbps bandwidth and have to be in EU or US (but going global next year). For 1920x1080 live streaming at 60 Hz, you should have a 12 Mbps line. We are working to move the codec to ORBX2/ORBX2D early next year, which will bring this down to 4 Mbps for 1920x1080p60, and 1.5 Mbps for 720p60.
