That limitation is the the plugin CANNOT open the Viewport if you are viewing a 3d Perspective Window. To me, this is a serious issue - but I would like peoples feedback on this.

Hi Paul,

I have not installed 2015 yet (probably this weekend) but perhaps you could clarify in the meanwhile:

1. I presume you mean the Octane VP can't be viewed simultaneously with a Revit 3D view at all (not just when opening)?
2. The benefits of associating Revit views with Octane views are obvious when setting up a project for presentation. But if there is there another way to somehow associate a 3D Revit view with a corresponding Octane view (Render Target node?) it may not be such a biggie. I.e. call the 3D view coordinates from a named Revit view, even if they can't be viewed together. It's a different workflow since we won't be seeing the Revit 3D view together with the Octane one (which for me personally is not a big deal since Revit's 3D navigation is pretty clunky anyway). That way, we could have a dropdown in the Octane window with view names referenced from the Revit 3D view names. Even if we can't associate the Octane views with Revit 3D view, to me this would be fine as long as we have the option to have numerous views. Just a thought until the problem can be solved...

Best,
Seeker

Seeker - in testing the plugin to answer your questions - I have uncovered another issue - in that once the Viewport is open, you are viewing a 3d perspective view, and therefore clicking the Refresh button throws an error.

So regretfully at this stage, Revit 2015 is not supported by the plugin. I will investigate if there are options for resolving this.

I have put together a new version for testing, which may get around the problems reported above.

http://render.otoy.com/customerdownloads/plugins/OctaneRender_for_Revit_2015_1_52_0_5_Win64.exe

When you try to open the viewport or Refresh, the plugin will pop the scene back to a 2d view, then return to the 3d view. I am not sure how well this will work for large scenes. Would appreciate you feedback.

Thanks Paul,
Will probably only be able to test next week.
