Hi,

I'm getting an error when trying to install the plugin. It says: Runtime Error (at 1:759): SWbemObjectSet: Invalid class.
I get the same with the Poser plugin install.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi - this is the process that checks if Modo (or Poser) is already running. I have not seen this error occur before - what operating system are you using pls?

EDIT: I found a Microsoft page on this. It implies the WMI libraries have not been installed on your system. You can install these via....
To install the WMI Windows Installer Provider do the following

1) Open Control Panel.
2) Open the Add or Remove Programs applet.
3) Press the Add/Remove Windows Components button.
4) Select the Management & Monitoring Tools item.
5) Press the Details button.
6) Check the WMI Windows Installer Provider box.
7) Press OK.
8) Press Next.
9) Complete the on-screen instructions.
Thanks

Hi face_off,

Thanks for the reply. I'm running Windows 8.1 - 64 bit. Apparently WMI is an optional install. I have no idea where my install disks are, and can't find any method to install WMI...

I would have thought it very hard to not have WMI installed. Have you checked if the WMI service is running? Control Panel->System and Security->Administrative Tools->Services->"Windows Management Instrumentation" - it should be Running and Automatic. If not, start it and install the plugin.

After researching this a little further....for Win 8.1 it appears to be a mandatory component - not options - so it should be on your system. However seeing quite a few posts with ppl having WMI issues - so it looks like WMI breaks in rare situtations.

The following link details how to troubleshoot WMI installation issues: http://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/3713-i- ... ng-windows. A lot of the solutions do not seem applicable in your case - however "The rebuild Windows system files option" and "The refresh performance counters option" would be worth trying.

The installer uses WMI to make sure Modo.exe is not currently running - so it is an important part of the install process.

The following link is for the Modo installer with the WMI check removed - that will at least get you up and running.

Also, what is the result of running a Command Prompt (Admin) and typing:

Code: Select all

winmgmt /salvagerepository

Hi face_off,

Thanks, I managed to fix it. Eventhough winmgmt /salvagerepository returned "WMI repository is consistent" I still got the error. winmgmt /resetrepository finally did the trick. I had to stop all the WMI related services. After a reboot I managed to install the plugins. Thanks!
