Hi everyone,

with the release of Octane 4 not so far away, I think it would be great to have some video tutorials available, especially for new users that will be approaching the software.

The Blender version of Octane has been growing and improving a lot lately and having the new upcoming features documented by videos is something important.

I've made a very first list of the possible topics:
  • Octane Kernels
    Octane Camera/Imager/PostProcessing
    Octane Materials
    Octane Lights
    Octane Displacement
    Octane Fibers/Hair
    Octane Volume (Smoke&Fire)
    Octane Volumetrics
    Octane Particle/Object Instancing
    Octane Denoiser
    Octane Render Passes
    Octane Render Layers
Please let me know what do you think about this list and feel free to add your possible additional topics in this thread.

Thanks!

Amazing!

Render Layers and Render Passes, would be great, too.

It may be out of the scope for this video series but exporting and importing assets and materials from and to OctaneBlender could be useful to some users.

Sounds great, can t wait to see them.

Imho, the list looks good for beginners to start playing.
Do you plan to include practicle examples ? (lightning situations, SSS, ...)

cheers

Looks like a good list! Please cover SSS though since that topic in v3 was a bit difficult to grasp. Took me a while to understand it (maybe v4 has fixed the learning curve but I haven't looked yet). I use SSS with my fur materials so you can possibly make an SSS video that connects to the fur video.

Nice list ! Since you ask there are three other topics for which I'd find a tutorial would be useful :

- The baking process, both for generating lightmaps and for baking them onto low poly objects
- UDIM workflow
- Instance IDs and instance range textures

Cheers, and thank you.

+1 for Udim workflow! Very useful for beginners to understand and how it's used in Octane.
