Hi Marcus, Did you resolve that problem where you can't use a camera focus object during animation ? I'm desperate to find a solution. I've convinced the team that we should use Octane for an animation we're doing ... but this will kill the whole project.
Hi cheeseburger, have you tried to export the camera animation with c4d Alembic exporter separately from the scene and import it into Standalone? ciao beppe
Ciao Beppe ! I 'm gonna try it right now, but I believe it's to do with the viewport not refreshing or something like that ... Anyways, Thanks, I'll try that now .. Grazie
Hi Beppe, I'm using Octane version 1.55, does that include Alembic import? I couldn't see it any where. Have you got this working on a particular set up ? I could upgrade I suppose ...
Okay, got it to import but it looks like a whole other lot of stuff to set up. Do you know wether I can get Cinema just to export with the Octane plugin and get the animation actually working(Camera Focal point) ? Have you tried it ? Cheers
Hi cheeseburger, I have just tried with the exporter and Octane 1.55 and everithing works as expected. In my opinion, you don't need to export the camera in Alembic, please have a look at the scene attached and at this screenshots about the proper settings:
Ciao Bepe, Thanks so much for having a look at this and uploading those files. I couldn't see a camera where you had an object that controlled the focus distance ... just a key framed one is that right ?
Hi cheeseburger, you have to animate with keyframes the Focus Distance in the c4d camera. If you want to use an object to control the focus, you need to switch to the integrated plugin. ciao beppe
