Well, what about materials then? Are you using standard materials only? Does the export work if you apply a gray standard material to the entire scene?
There are some limits with CUDA:

I don't think there's a magic solution to this - it's probably very specific to the scene you're working on. You have to try to break it down to see where the problem lies. First, try giving all objects a standard default 3ds Max material and export like I suggested above. If it works, you can conclude that the problem is material related. If it doesn't work, the problem is somewhere else. Do the same with your lights (I think we can only have one sunlight anyway?). If it still doesn't work, start deleting models until you find the culprit that's causing problems. You have to narrow it down, that's the only way in my experience ;)

can't make the scene any simpler just a sphere (no mapping) and a camera !! obj file does not contain a camera ...

via maxtoctane app freezes on export and i have to abort octane from the processes to exit program

i am really block from advancing here can somebody link me to a max file that works for them that way i can try it ..??

(may i take this opportunity to thank you and your team for your continous hard work on your project i can "feel" that Octane has a huge place to fill on the rendering market it brings "feedback" to the user like no other visualisation tool and will be of immense utility all the global graphical artist community)


my only bemol at the moment is the impossibilty to import from max to octane via .obj or maxtoctane exporter the least "camera".
maxtoctane freezes on export with the plugin and the obj file does not give me the camera either ( iknow about the reset view etc..).

1. install this script viewtopic.php?f=27&t=2359
2. download www.droschler.dk/temp/test1.zip
3. unpack and load up max2011
4. open the newly installed max2octane for 3dsmax 2010+ ( not the one you have installed at the moment )
5. make a new directory on c drive in the root called c:\test
6. set this folder as your project folder
7. Give the project the name "test"
8. hit the render button

Make a screenshot of your export settings and Octanes location on the harddrive if this still fails.

Have you installed the cuda drivers? I've just installed win7 x64 and forgot to install them, giving me the same freezing.
