Hi all,

Can someone tell me how to export camera view to octane when rendering animation

in Max2Octane 1.022g when I click Render I get in Octane some default view, not the one my camera sees, when I click on Render Animation not camera or my object are moving in rendered frames, all frames are still...

help? :)

edit: figured out how to export camera view to octane... I didn't have that poser check in export options
edit2: option with export solved allso my camera... now everything is ultra blurred... need to figure that out!

edit3:

when I click Render button and setup my materials, save my new ocs file and add it via "use existing project" and when I click Render, it renders with 3ds max default materials, and not with one I configured inside octane?... anyone knows hot to solve this maybe?

Hi.

To edit2: The blurriness, is very likely the depth of field settings. Do you use autofocus? Autofocus keeps the focus on the centre of the image. Also make sure that the export scale is correct. If your scene is very small, you get a very large depth-of-field effect. If you are not using autofocus, you are very likely exporting the focal depth via the export plugin, which is probably not set up correctly.

To edit3: If you are using Octane version 1.023 pre, you stumbled over a known relink problem, that will be fixed with the next release. The only way you can change materials for now is to use nodes in the node graph editor. (See for example here viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3831).

Cheers,
Marcus

Thanks for the reply, now everything works fine... but now I need to figure out why is octane crashing when I'm importing some object from another project into octane, I collapsed all modifiers to editable poly and all... but when I hit Render in max2octane, it opens octane, starts to load, than crashes with an error:

Yes, that's the other most annoying bug, that together with the relinking problem causes a lot of frustration... A workaround is described here:

viewtopic.php?f=23&t=4272

In a nutshell: When you use nodes to override materials, make sure that there are no gaps between pins connected with nodes and pins that are not connected.

Again, all these problems will be solved with the next release.

Marcus

well about nodes and all... I can't even open the scene in octane... when I hit "render" to edit my materials and setup the scene before "render animation", octane starts to load and this error pops out and I can't do a thing inside of octane...

about materials, I even setted up the scene with standard default gray material with no texture, same thing

because as I see in this topic you provided, there is a word when fixing stuff inside of octane

hmm... I mean EVERY project I open... I can't export to octane... octane starts to load the mesh and it crashes without an error mostly

now I have one editable poly object and a Realflow Bin file , and I can't load it into octane... crashes, I converted realflow bin file to editable poly... crashes!, so there is a scene with standard max camera, 2 editable poly objects, and all have different standard material, and Octane can't handle it... :(

I don't remember octane stability being this bad before... but Octane is highly unstable, and I must admit unreliable... I think I will put it to "sleep" for a few months AGAIN, maybe newer versions will I hope be better, and if it's possible have an Alpha channel.

But you can import meshes when you start Octane separate?
