Hi guys,
i though octane 2020 now support geo / cv / point attributes ?
But in the octane parameter curves rendering tab , i only see Cd / Alpha using the old primitive attribute methods + use of rgb and alpha tex ?
I would like to know if we still need to use the old method for hairs or if we can now acces directly attributes with vertex textures ?
Cheers

Octane 2020.1 hair rendering attributes

There is an Attribute tab. Use that to get whatever attribute you need. In the material network there are two nodes, Color Vertex Attribute and Float Vertex Attribute. Use these to read the attributes you passed in the Attribute tab.

thanks for the extra info juanjo. for retrocompatibily houdini has an internal mechanism that allow you to hide previous version of an hda and to use it if an occurrence is find in an old scene. that would allow to hide the legacy parameters but the previous version would be use in case someone open an older scene.

Hello,
Could we please get an example file or further documentation on hair attributes for octane in Houdini?
I cannot get point or prim attributes to render with the float and vector vertex attribute nodes.
I am using OctaneRender for Houdini - Version 2022.1 Studio+

You can use point attributes also. Primitive attributes are not supported.tigher wrote:woo! got it working!
Vertex Attributes literally means Vertex attributes! Not point or prim atts. Simple attrib promotes in sops to Vertex atts and all is working.
