Good for a first test. A few things you can change for the scene are the lighting, reduce the reflection on the plate and add a slight more roughness and the surface texture, perhaps wood.

excellent first render.. check on how to improve antialiasing and reduce graininess.. render on a higher res then reduce it to half or more - you get a 50% clearer image..
play with the tonemapping.. needs just a bit more warmth around the edges..

Personally, I thinkt the small tiling on the surface makes the cup look wickedly huge!

Nice result. Something about the reflectivity of the cream bothers me. Maybe a very slight bump map of the cream to dissipate that ?

yes you're right, something is wrong, but I want to get ground coffee with milk, without the foam.
