Hi all,

We are happy to bring you OctaneRender 2025.6. This is the final 2025 maintenance release including various fixes for those who still could not upgrade to the 2026 version.

Thanks again to all those who sent us feedback and continuously help us to improve Octane.

Important notes:
  • The minimum NVIDIA driver version required is R528 (R572 for GeForce RTX50 Series).
  • The minimum version of macOS required is 14.5. It will soon be raised to 15.
Changes since 2025.5

Resolved issues
  • A syntax error in the script editor when running a script no longer causes the cursor to jump to the start of the script.
  • Fixed instancing in meshes loaded from Alembic files.
  • Fixed load error when loading an animated Alembic file with materials saved as non-constant FaceSet objects.
  • Fixed log errors occasionally showing when loading a new project while a render was in progress.
  • Fixed occasional compute error and failure on macOS to start a render.
  • Fixed using the select() function in OSL shaders with values that require differentials, eg. UVs for virtual textures.
  • Fixed Time node that was incorrectly applying Offset and Multiplier.
  • Fixed Geometry exporter node Texture quality toolitp indentation.
  • Fixed a CUDA device memory leak that could occur in specific circumstances.
  • Fixed a rendering regression in texture displacement on Windows and Linux platforms that was introduced in version 2025.1.
  • Fixed an issue when a composite texture is used as input to the texture environment.
  • Fixed bug that the last frame of 2-frame animation could produce an invalid value.
  • Fixed issue with rounded edges potentially not respecting broken edges when using meshes with very large vertex and/or vertex normal values.
  • Mitigated issue that would cause some RNDR uploads to fail.

Lua API
  • octane.image.compress() raises an error if compressing the image fails.
  • octane.image.convert() raises an error when conversion is not possible.
  • octane.image.convert() can convert between compressed image formats and uncompressed image formats.
Other changes
  • Added release flag optixDisableParallelBuild which forces serialized OptiX pipeline builds (slower but more robust with some NVIDIA drivers -including R591-).
  • Directional lights can now be excluded with the light IDs setting in the kernel node.
  • When running a script from within the script editor, the kill button will be shown in the same window and the main window no longer pops up over other open undocked work panes.
  • Windows ZIP archives are now compressed using Deflate64.
