Compositor of AOVs in Standalone

I see several videos for blender and Cinema 4d where one can build a composite image using different render passes (AOVs... I think these are the same thing correct?)

Is there a way to do this in the Standalone? I am able to export an EXR to photoshop then adjust the layers to get my composite image... just wondering if there is a node that combines the AOV's etc internally in the standalone so I can export a PNG with all the AOVs applied with the correct multiply of AmbOcc etc?

If not not a big deal...

How about get rid of noise on the shadow AOV or up samples on Shadow AOV separately?

I see lots of tutorials for other apps but not the standalone on how to set this kind of system up.

Appreciate any tips

Thanks

Hi Peter,

Yes sure, please have a look at Standalone documentation starting from here:
https://docs.otoy.com/standaloneSE/AOVsandCompositing.html

About denoising specific AOVs, please have a look at 2024.1 release notes, and in particular at "Powerful Denoise AOV Nodes and Filter Graphs (GPU and CPU)" paragraph here:
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=83998

There is an example on how to use Open AI Denoiser for denoising any type of AOVs, here is the direct link to example .orbx scene:

I am afraid this is a bit beyond me
I am not sure of the difference between AOVs and Render layers
I am unable to add the denpoise tone mapping to a shadow render layer

Not asking you to solve it of course... but any ideas on where to see it explained in example fashion.

The new features node does not show me how to "hook" it all up.

I attached an orbx in case its a simple lickity split thing to do.

Thanks mate as always

Hi Peter,

You just need to create a new Output AOV with two layers.
On first layer, the Render AOV/Shadow pass.
On the second layer, the Open Image denoiser node connected to both Denoised Albedo and Denoised Normal passes:

Ah ha
This is awesome thanks
I notice the output AOVs are just labelled Out1 Out2 etc
Is there anyway to give them a better name? That in some way refers to the thing they are denoising.

ie the shadow render layer is called Shdw and the outAOV is called out1

Thanks mate

Peter

Hi Peter,

Sorry, I don't think this is currently possible, you can edit any AOV name in Preferences/Export, but not for Output AOVs:
