Hi all,
sorry for the noob question. Just turned back to Octane. Can someone tell me, how i render a Denoised Beauty Pass instead of the Main Beauty and how i can add Custom AOVs? I can`t figure out how to add those passes to the 3ds Max Render Elements.
Thanks in Advance for your help!
Ben

good question BenterA

As I use just octanerender viewport to render I didn't try with AOVs.
In octanerender viewport you can "export passes selection to render elements", but it don't work with AOvs...
Strangely, you can "export passes selection to clipboard" and then AOVs are taken into account.
I wait an answer too !

Hey HHbomb,
that`s exactely my problem

Can`t find a way to get the Custom AOVs into Maxs Render Elements list. In the Octane Viewport, everything works just fine.
And i was sure that there has been a checkbox somewhere saying "Save Denoised Beauty instead of Beauty" (or something similar), but can`t find it anymore

Hi,
For the 'Use denoised beauty output instead of beauty', that's is the Main settings tab of the Octane Preferences.
When enabled, you don't need to add the 'Denoised beauty' pass in the render elements. (the rendered and saved image will be the denoised one)
(see the green anotations here:)
There is also, in red, the way to add AOVs as render elements.
(it's useful to set a good name to the 'aov' texmap, so you can check in this Render element dialog)
For the Custom AOV, it's the same as other 'render AOV' :
Set a Render AOV texmap in the first layer of a output AOV, and in the drop down menu where you select the 'pass' / 'render aov', there are all the 20 Custom AOV.

Here is a small sample scene with some aov set as render elements:
Thanks

Hi NZ !
Thanks a lot for these explainations !

I read and read again octane prefs and I didn't see this dammed checkbox ! It must be said that prefs are bigger and bigger ! (ok, it was on the first page...)
what about :
In octanerender viewport you can "export passes selection to render elements", but it don't work with AOvs...
Strangely, you can "export passes selection to clipboard" and then AOVs are taken into account.

Thank you very much, neonZorglub!
Unfortnately i am still on Version 2021 (because newer Versions produce a different Output on an older Project). So here are no AOV Group Settings (yet?). Do you know how to set this up in older Versions of Octane? I tried to set it up under "Output AOVs settings" and add "AOV Output" to the Render Elements, which unfortunately results in a completely black render pass.

Hi BenterA,
I see. In previous versions, AOV was quite different.
But I tested with 2021.1.7 - 12.29, it seems to work fine:
The box material is set to generate Custom AOV 1, and the Output AOV3 set as a Render AOV output, with the 'Input' set as Custom AOV 1, is like in your screenshot.
When set as Render element, the AOV Output (3) renders fine. (same as when rendering with the Octane Viewport).
-Does this sample scene work for you ?
-Witch Octane plugin version are you using ?
-Did you setup a material to generate your custom AOV ? (like in this sample, the Diffuse material of the box)
-Do you see your Custom AOV correctly in Octane viewport ?
