Houdini production builds supported by this release: 19.0.720, 19.5.534, 19.5.569, 19.5.605, 19.5.773, 20.0.506.

If you are not sure if your Houdini version is compatible with the plugin - just run it and you will see an error message in case of incompatibility.

Linux Note
On Linux only compatibility Houdini 20 build is supported (gcc9.3).
It can only be installed by downloading it from the downloads page since it's not visible in the Launcher:

RELEASE 2023.1.0.1 (Current stable)
=============================================
* PLUGIN FEATURES AND FIXES:

- New LiveDB option "Reduce number of imported nodes" which produces more readable LiveDB materials
- Fixed loading of "File format" ROP property when loading old scenes (before 2023.1). It would previously reset to PNG.
- Fixed crash on failed assertions on Linux
- Fixed crash when loading local/liveDB materials with all nodes in the root graph
- Fixed bug with loading of liveDB materials with OSL nodes
- Fixed file selection filter for ROP "Image file path/prefix" and "Deep file"
- MPlay is no longer triggered when rendering from the command line (could crash on linux)
- Don't trigger version conversion prompt when running from command line (will convert all automatically, previously could crash)

Common Issues and Solutions
- If the plugin doesn't work at all, set HOUDINI_DSO_ERROR = 2 in houdini.env and check for messages in the terminal.
- If you're missing libglut.so.3, install the freeglut package.
- If you are having any issues with the Deadline - please submit a support ticket to the AWS.

Happy rendering,
Your OTOY Team

Nice to know that you try to improve DB, I stopped using it long ago because how bad it worked. Maybe I'll give it a try again soon

Question:
Why can't I change contrast of the input that goes into the gradient node?
I can color correct the input yeah, change black and white to something else, but when I slide white to the left it doesn't change anything. I remember it worked before 100%.
I can add additional inputs in-between and when I slide them I get to change the contrast. Is this a new behaviour that is supposed to be more correct or better?

Question about the Mac OS plugin here, is this for the M1/M2/M3 apple silicon? or is that for the old Intel Based Macs still? If its for M series, how is it different to OctaneX?

Hi, no I don't think it is intentional. Standalone has a fixed start and end color and right now mimics this behaviour. We will look at sorting it out to how Houdini 2022 worked with it.

Hi, this will be for Apple Silicon, there is no difference.

There are a few more improvements to be made later down the line, but it should be a lot easier to edit now as the node count has significantly been reduced when importing.

Are there plans to expand on orbx functionality, namely being able to export a frame sequence rather than one monolithic file? It becomes prohibitive to use services like RNDR when you have a simulation scene with unique geometry per frame. Or does this need to be implemented by core and subsequently RNDR first?

Hello,

I seem to not be able to submit to Deadline since upgrading from the 2023 Beta. It's weird but there's language in the Python error which may be something to do with the Octane ROP; any changes that have happened in there. I recall a change to the file formats happening but not sure how this could affect the Deadline submitter. Presently hacking other submitted jobs to redirect to HIPs i need rendered.

Tested even on a new, blank, sphere test scene. Pressed Octane, Render Target, Made a camera, made a sphere, submit to Deadline.
