...this is more a DYI WIP than an octane render WIP, but the latter too.
early stages (concept wise and render wise) of an overclocked octa-gpu octanerender tower i'm going to build over the winter.

it'll sport 8 3gb msi lightning extreme cards (each with at least 75% performance of a standard gtx 590).
two 1800 watt power supplies, a msi big bang marshal board width a i7 2600k cpu (watercooled) and 16gb ram.
the mechanical concept should allow every heating component breathing lots of fresh air,
while maintaining a still compact size (footprint will be 36x24cm, 72cm tall);
also it will be possible to swap cards really easy to upgrade the box.
an extra benefit should be, that it could be used as an oven during winter...

Next thing you know , he'll be asking pixar if they have any feature films coming up that they would like rendered. :o

i'd like better if they order around 150 such towers, so i can quit my daytime job ;)

For that, a quadro6000 rig would be better ;)

Cool, you had the same idea with the riser cables :)
I hope this tower will come to 'live' soon.

droooooooooling! 8-) 8-) 8-)
What are the price numbers for something like this? BTW, the concept render looks nice.
BTW2, have you met helmer? ;)
http://helmer.sfe.se/
Though its more cpu-power oriented, it's always an interesting read.

...putting a cpu cluster into an ikea drawer is freaky2themax :)

but as i started with luxrender into unbiased rendering, i already have some boxes for network rendering ;) btw built with this case http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.p ... 1&area=usa which has a very good airflow and allows a nice line-up of a few boxes side by side. it'll even take 1 or 2 gpus while still maintaining fair temperatures.

the components for my gpu-tower will be around 6k euro (with taxes), and i hope another 1k will make me the "case", including (external) material processing, laser cutting, whatsoever...
