Use Modo Render Cache woes

Hello all.
It looks like if "Use Modo Render Cache is On" (meaning you can nicely render fur) - you cannot use weight maps as a Greyscale Vertex Attribute.
Can someone confirm?

Confirmed, although I don't know what the technical reasons for this are.

Hi

So I can confirm if this is a plugin issue, or a Modo issue, can you please provide a simple scene which demonstrates the problem?

Thanks

Paul

Sure thing!
I spoke with Funk and he shared already some insight that it might be internal to render cache API.
Greg (Lauenberger) also added few cents to it what render cache do and how.
But will send simple scene tomorrow (as now i'm waiting for some sweet octane renders) :)

So here's the scene file.

Simply turn on or off "use modo render cache".
Preffered is on as it allows to use fur but it is also preffered to use vmaps (for ad hoc quick material masks instead of using images).

I have escalated this question to Foundry, who will hopefully be able to provide some clarity.

Thanks

Ok, thank you Paul, hopefully it will come something good from it. :)

I have heard back from Foundry on this issue, and their response was that Vertex Maps are /not/ supported in the current version of the Render Cache SDK, but it is something they will look at implementing in the future.

Thanks
