BTW. I know that there are several reports about problems with the multi-thread scene extraction feature (crashes, missing objects, etc.) Unfortunately, I was not able to reproduce them here, so please, if you have this problem while working with this new build, let us know, including your system specs, the LightWave version that you are using and the scene to reproduce the problem. Without a scene to try to reproduce the problem here, it makes no sense to report this issue. Thanks!

-Juanjo

Thanks for plugin update Juan, great stuff.

Also, when reading octane core fixes, some of those might be fixing those random start crashes. I'll see how it works and let you know can I find more crashes.

Hi Juan,

Sadly, this build now has a massive BUG. now, instances do not render unless you activate their instanced object/geometry.

See this scene (attached). I have cubes instanced per poly position and spheres per point. And IF that instanced geometry is OFF in Scene editor (as it should be since i don't want to render the basic planes) then Octane do not render instances either.

Please check this scene/render and fix it soon 'coz this way it's useless for scenes with a lot of cars/chairs/tables (all the stuff I use to orient instances on "short edge" and instanced geometry on polygons)...

Thanks

Yes, do not render the instance in this scene.
I also see more VRAM consumption than in version 2.3.1

As far as I know, that's always been the case in LW. That's one of the nice features I saw in Blender when I was doing the sprinkles in the "Donut" tutorial. You could hide the base geometry of the sprinkles and the instances would still show up. Instances don't work like that in LW, unless I'm missing something.

Yes, you misunderstood, it is broken in 2020.2.5.0 and useless for archviz now and it never worked like now. It always worked same (at least since Octane 2.0 when i started using it in Lw) till build 2020.2.4.0 and 2020.2.5.0 broken it.

I sent video and demo scene to Juan so hopefully fix is not long away.

R: Octane has always been like this in any version.

It shouldn't be an Octane issue but rather a LightWave limitation...

I believe!...
