UDIM Workflow

Hi guys,

I've the following problem:

I painted my model inside Substance Painter using UDIMs and want to render it now in Octane. So I exported all my maps with the correct ending (1001-1006) but when I try to set up the Image Tiles node in my material the value inside the Start field always jumps back to 1 as soon as I hit the setup image tiles button. Changing the Grid size/order doesn't change a thing. Heres is how my PNGs are named:

01_UFO_UDIM_Unwrap_002_DefaultMaterial_BaseColor.1001

and thats how Octane interpretes the image sequence:

01_UFO_UDIM_Unwrap_001_DefaultMaterial_BaseColor.0001.png

What I'm I doing wrong?

Btw, my UDIM in Substance are one row from left to right, so I have to enter 6x1 inside the image tiles node, right? If I do so, the node only loads the first image and it looks like this:

01_UFO_UDIM_Unwrap_001_DefaultMaterial_BaseColor.0001.png, 01_UFO_UDIM_Unwrap_002_DefaultMaterial_BaseColor.0001.png, 01_UFO_UDIM_Unwrap_003_DefaultMaterial_BaseColor.0001.png, 01_UFO_UDIM_Unwrap_004_DefaultMaterial_BaseColor.0001.png, 01_UFO_UDIM_Unwrap_005_DefaultMaterial_BaseColor.0001.png, 01_UFO_UDIM_Unwrap_006_DefaultMaterial_BaseColor.0001.png

Using 1x6 it looks like:

01_UFO_UDIM_Unwrap_001_DefaultMaterial_BaseColor.0001.png,
01_UFO_UDIM_Unwrap_001_DefaultMaterial_BaseColor.0002.png,
01_UFO_UDIM_Unwrap_001_DefaultMaterial_BaseColor.0003.png,
01_UFO_UDIM_Unwrap_001_DefaultMaterial_BaseColor.0004.png,
01_UFO_UDIM_Unwrap_001_DefaultMaterial_BaseColor.0005.png,
01_UFO_UDIM_Unwrap_001_DefaultMaterial_BaseColor.0006.png

Needless to say, the material stays black...

I'm on 2020.1.5 R3

Ahmet, I could privately send you a simple version of the project including the maps if you want.

Any help would be much appreciated. :)

Hello KeeWe, as I replied in your support ticket, if you set your grid to 6x1 and remove the first portion of your file names, so that they conform to "DefaultMaterial_BaseColor.xxx" then the File Pattern filter will populate the grid as you expect. I am replying to this thread as well, in case anyone else is running into a similar issue.

My question on this. HOW did you set this up in C4d? Last i heard it didn't support udims at all?
We SOOO need a video on this full round trip!!!!
