Footage reveal/ liquid/ triplanar

Hello,
I'm wondering if I could ask how someone might tackle this...
I've been asked to 'reveal' an actor into a shot, they are to be revealed by there bodies filling up with liquid (some sort of 'fulfilment' metaphor or what have you). The liquid needs to move up slowly and reveal the texture of the actor (i have the footage with actor, plate without, in the moving shots I have moco too), but the liquid top, that is the top surface needs to be blue.
Thus far I have managed to make a mesh to match the actor and animate it to match the movement, then do an Xparticles sim so it fills up. I have tried using triplanar mapping, with the blue colour in the +Y-Y and the footage in the other two but its a bit janky as you can imagine.
Has anyone done anything like this before?
The reason I post in the octane forum is I'm hoping someone can offer a solution whereas I can use triplanar and be able to get mattes for each 'part'.
Thank you and I hope this all makes some kind of sense!
